IOM Haiti

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM established its operations in Haiti sin 1994, when the Organization began partnering with the Government of Haiti on migration management and capacity building programs following years of turmoil that had caused internal and international displacement, forced migration and considerable economic decline. In later years, IOM extended its work to address and mitigate the effects of natural disaster and to strengthen protection, including returning migrants. Since the eruption of the political crisis in 2021, IOM has been responding to massive displacement in the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince (MAPP) caused by gang violence.
